Regional News

Region 1 had an amazing fall summit October 26 – 29.  We had 34 attendees at Oregon State University, representing private, state, and community institutions.  Overall the summit was a huge success!  We learned about managing our stress, dealing with difficult customers, and student employees.  Chuck Salem, CMP, of Unique Venues presented a comprehensive workshop on marketing.  To top it all off, we had amazing food and a great wine swap at the end!

Seattle University kicked off their fall with successful programs such as Fall Preview Day, Family Weekend, and a visit from some members of the MTV show:  The Buried Life.  We also had SU alum, Duff McKagan (former Guns N Roses bassist), come to speak about his new book.  We are in full gear and already looking forward to winter break.

Holli Redekop recently resigned from her position as director of ceremonies and events at Simon Fraser University and moved to Washington, D.C. to live with her new husband, Milree Williams, whom she had met at the ACCED-I Conference in Las Vegas.  Gloria Chu who has been the associate director of ceremonies and events for six years was recently appointed the director of ceremonies and Events at Simon Fraser University.
