Greetings all,
I am excited to be heading up the call for nominations for this year’s Regional Director-Elect. I have attached the job description for the Regional Director-Elect position. Please take a look at the job description and send me names of those who you think would make a good Director-Elect. Last year was the first year in a long time that we held an election, as more than one person was interested in taking on the position. This is a GREAT thing and I would like to encourage as many people who are interested to submit their names to be put on our ballot. Please keep your nominations to yourself so that we can assure a fair election process for all who participate!
I need all nominations emailed to me (tlee@brenau.edu) by October 1, 2011. HG, Kim and I will review all candidates once the nominations are received and we will put your ballot together. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to ask! Click here for a nomination form.
We have a very active and dedicated group of people in Region 9, so I have no doubt that we will select another fantastic representative for our Region!
Thanks,
Tami W. Lee

Hello Region 9!
We are very excited about the upcoming regional meeting—I urge all of you to start making plans now to attend. It is also time to start thinking about a Regional- Director Elect. I encourage you to reach out to me, to Dan Dykstra, Jim Hodges, or Amy Sanders if you need more information about this leadership position. In September, we will start the nomination process for the election.
I will need 3 people to serve on the Elections board---Please contact me if you are interested. I prefer to have volunteers who are not at a school where there is a candidate running.
Take care,
Sherry

This May, Wake Forrest University and Emory University implemented commencement housing at their institutions. Both campuses had success and were thrilled to just get through it after the first try.
Sherry at Emory was very happy to get advice from HG at Vanderbilt in an attempt to avoid pitfalls. In the end, this was a huge PR move for both schools because we both had many happy parents.
HG Stovall from Vanderbilt reports: Our intern housing program is hosting almost twice as many people as last year! We launched a website, hosted an open house with the help of Michelle Wu and have been reaching out sooner and more often to our past partners to be sure the option to live in this housing is available to more student researchers, interns, etc. Emory also has a great increase in Intern Housing. Michelle and HG are both happy to help others in Region 9 with advice in starting an intern housing program!
Tami Lee and Michelle Wu have both recently been accepted to start the process for CCEP! Good luck guys!!!
Jim Hodges from Duke University recently celebrated his 18 year anniversary of working at Duke.
Save the date for the the Region 9 Fall Summit to be held at Appalachian State University in Boone, NC on November 7 - 8, 2011.
Watch for more information coming soon!
GOOD LUCK getting through the summer, everyone! Please do not hesitate to call me if you need anything! I hope to hear from everyone over the course of the summer so we can share great stories! – Sherry Ebrahimi
